For the month of August we are taking a break from our usual schedule. Instead we invite you to be part of a challenge we hope will make an impact in your life and along the Silk Road.

If we are to completely die to ourselves, we need to be willing to give up everything. 

Our dreams, goals, health, life and family, etc.  If we want to hold on to anything but Christ, we won’t be dying completely. 

We should hold on to Jesus’ words in Luke 9:24,

For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.

I think that this means that giving Christ everything is the only way to be truly happy.  It helps us to reach the lost better, because there is nothing left of us. His love and compassion are all we need to be filled with.

Counting the Cost

I don’t think this means being reckless, but it does mean taking the calculated risk that if Christ is for us and we are completely surrendered to Him, we should have the boldness to go anywhere He asks of us. The results are left up to Him.  We should go to reach the lost wherever they may be found.

We have the amazing privilege of being able to tell the unreached that their Savior has come and wants a relationship with them.

Being fully ready to give up everything is something we should strive for.  The only things worth holding onto are Jesus, His Word and what He has called us to do.
