One day three people sat around a kitchen table and wondered: how can we invite people into what is happening along the Silk Road?
We decided to try a blog.
In the two months since that decision we’ve written about eight different unreached people groups.
We’ve introduced Allyson, Symphony, Blake, Becky and Jim.
We’ve talked about outdoor toilets, language mix-ups, and crazy motorcycle rides through the night.
We’ve raised money to engage the unreached and empower women through Trades of Hope. We’ve asked questions and shared stories.
We took a chance when we started the LDSR blog, and then you blew us away by joining us on the journey. Over 700 people have joined us via the Live Dead Silk Road Facebook page. Our Facebook posts have been viewed thousands of times.
We couldn’t have done it without you.
We hope we helped you understand why we have chosen to “Live Dead” along the Silk Road.
We hope we helped you learn something new about the world.
We hope we helped you care about the people of the Silk Road.
We hope, more than anything, God took our meager offerings – all the blogs, Facebook posts, graphics, and stories – and did something new in your life.
Maybe one of our advocates challenged you to go deeper with God, or your heart broke for one of the people groups in our area.
We started the LDSR blog because we wanted to connect people with each other. With your help, we’ve started to do that, but there’s still a lot more to be done.
For the next couple weeks we’ll be taking a break from our regular posting schedule. We’ll still tell you what it’s like to spend the holidays overseas and invite you to pray for the unreached as you celebrate the birth of the Savior.
We’ll be back to our regular schedule January 5th to kick off the New Year with more stories from the road, more unreached people groups who need your prayers, and more amazing advocates. We can’t wait for you to meet the mom that’s running a marathon in France, or the Yankees fan that has been changing college students’ lives for fifteen years.
We hope you’ll continue to be surprised, challenged and encouraged by our content, and that you’ll remember to share it with those around you.
From the team here at the LDSR blog and all of us who are part of Live Dead Silk Road, we wish you a very Merry Christmas. May God’s presence be tangible as you head into 2015, and very big Thank You for being part of what God is doing along the Silk Road.
