Baarf … Snow

Take a prayer walk with us through nine cities of Iran. We will highlight for you the physical dynamic of water and its correlated spiritual meaning. We look to the Source of living water to fill the thirsty hearts of Iranians this Nowruz season!

Baarf

You might be surprised to know that one place in Iran has visible snow year-round. It is the majestic, legendary and volcanic Mount Damavand, located just 40 miles north of Tehran, the capital of Iran. Snow or “baarf” as it is known in Persian, is fresh water that just needs a little warmth to flow. The Gospel in Iran could be likened to snow. Before the invasion of Islam, Jesus was already establishing His Kingdom among Iranians. The land has not forgotten the Gospel. We pray for the warm winds of the Holy Spirit to sweep over Iran and melt the snow.

“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:10-11)

“Jesus, we thank You that You began establishing Your Kingdom in Iran long ago. You have always kept a remnant for Yourself. Breath on the land and awaken it! Let the still snow of the Gospel melt and flow to the people and provide life. Jesus, grow Your church with Your life-giving water. She will be Your bride, white, shining and ready.”
