Focus on what Matters

Many times when doing ministry in Asia we can get caught up in the “work” more than the people.  It’s at these times we need to stop and reassess “what’s our purpose here?”

We had experienced just that working at our ministry and realized we had slacked on our relationships with our local friends.  So we called our closest friends and invited them over to our house to make an Asian dinner.  We couldn’t of had a more enjoyable time.  Our fiends bustled around the kitchen throwing together their favorite food, showing us how to help where we could.  We all sat around our small kitchen table, bumping elbows, serving each other and making sure everyone had enough.  It was unforgettable.

We realized its these moments that brought us to Asia.  When we were able to stop worrying about the ministry work and just focus on the people who we could show God’s love to was when we felt most fulfilled in our time there.  We learned spending those memorable moments with someone doing an activity and sharing a laugh helped build a bridge to the gospel in the most profound ways rather than focusing on the “work”.
