We don’t need your help here
A team member:
While driving through the neighborhood, we heard a young man scream in perfect English,
“Go back to your own country! We don’t need your help here.”
How do you feel knowing that your sacrificial giving, your hours of prayer and your heart of love is being treated with such contempt? These things are not easy. They grind against us day after day. Many nights we fall into bed worn thin, many days we wake up already on edge.
But that is not the end of the story.
Sometimes we wonder, “Maybe we should go where we are more wanted and where your financial gifts and heart-felt prayer will be more appreciated…”
But the truth is, we need to be here. The selfishness of the people here is a precious gift to us because it shows the story of our contempt toward God and God’s merciful love toward us.
All we like sheep have gone astray…the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. Is 53:6 ESV
We are all included in that judgment and in that mercy. All of our hearts have turned deliberately away from the LORD, as though we were screaming,
“Get out of my life God, I don’t need your help here.”
We stay because we see more clearly our own God-hating hearts and the love of God so clearly shown in Jesus’ death.
Pray for us and we will pray for you.
