Snap Shots

Have you heard the expression “Boots on the Ground?” Well our Live Dead Missionaries are the boots on the Silk Road. Here we’d like to take a moment and allow one of them to share some quick snapshots of their life and work with you. Names and details have been changed, but these are true stories from this colorful, vibrant, and sometimes surprising region.

Two years ago, we happily became part of the intensive new initiative known as Live Dead Silk Road. This initiative has helped encourage our team to share the Gospel with hundreds of Muslims. From our Gospel “sowing” we have started to see breakthroughs in transformed lives! Below are some snapshots of those breakthroughs.

Richard is a young man we have known here for years, but it was not until our newest team member spent considerable time with him that he began to seriously consider Christ. In this last year Richard prayed with our team member to follow Jesus! We have been discipling him ever since. Pray for him because he faces some personal issues that threaten to derail his walk with Christ. And he will soon leave for university studies in Eastern Europe.

Mark was a student at the country’s top university when he met his roommate Jim who was an exchange student from America. Jim was also part of our team and extensively shared about Jesus with Mark. In January of this year, Mark told us he had decided to follow Jesus! He started to be discipled and finished his studies in June before finding a job in a village. Pray for Mark as he faces the challenges of following Christ alone in his village. He is starting to tell his family of his decision, which will certainly bring strong opposition from some of them. Pray for our consistent times of discipleship through skype (diskypleship).

Kathy was befriended last year by two ladies on our team. They met by a “chance” encounter. The girls encouraged Kathy to investigate what she believes and go past her interest in simply improving herself.

Kathy started to read the New Testament and after many months of searching on July 30th Kathy prayed to follow Jesus!

What’s more, she immediately started sharing with her brother Steve who prayed to follow Christ on August 6th! Kathy received a scholarship to study in another country and we continue to do diskypleship with her there.

If you pray for or support LDSR, be encouraged that you share in the joy and beauty of these transformed lives. It is that support that allows us to reach these precious people.
