Alex is a TCK (Third Culture Kid). She lives in Central Asia with her family and pet dog. She enjoys playing with her little brother, the piano, reading and writing.
I was in my language class when Mahsa, my teacher, told us that her father had just died. The Lord said to me, “Pray for her. I know you can.” I said, “Lord, that’s crazy! How could I do that?”
When I got home, I told my mom what had happened. She said that I should pray for her. I was really worried and afraid. I mean, how was I supposed to do that? She was the scary teacher who yelled, “CHILDREN!” all class long.
The next week I remembered what I was going to do. When the end of class came, I waited for everyone else to go. “I can do this,” I said. “No, I can’t,” was my own reply. “1, 2, 3,” I counted.
I stepped up to the teacher and waited for her to finish talking to my other teacher. “Can I pray for you?” I asked. “Of course,” she replied. So I prayed for her, a medium-sized prayer. At the end I didn’t know what to say, but I guess it was a good thing I did it. After the prayer, my teacher was happy.
Later my teacher shared with a friend of my mom’s that she was very touched that I prayed for her. She is a Muslim. I’m so glad I listened to the Lord, even though it was really scary.
