Don’t Compromise the Promise

Jordan is full of life, loves to travel and share the love of Jesus with everyone she meets. She is currently attending ministry school.
These past few months have been up and down; discouraging a bit. I want to talk you to about really grabbing ahold of the words and promises God gives you.
This past May, I went to England for about 6 weeks to help a missionary family. It was amazing! I remember when I was around 16, when I first started taking mission trips, and knowing I wanted to be a missionary.
I knew I wanted to just go and love people.
I will start by asking this question:
What has the Lord purposed you to do? What are the dreams promises He has given to you?
If you aren’t too sure what He has spoken to you, or you don’t know what your purpose is, go and spend time with Him. Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first the Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” It stands true with anything that you need from God, but find your purpose in Him.
Obedience to the Call
It was sometime in the middle of my England trip, that I said to myself, “This is what I want to do for the rest of my life.” In my mind, it was about traveling and being a missionary.
But even deeper, out of my heart, I knew it was a call to obedience.
I want to go where the Lord says go and do what He has said to do, even when it gets tough, or when I really don’t want to do what He says. Of course, it was easy saying yes to a trip to England. But after coming home, has the attitude of my heart remained the same? If I am being honest, it hasn’t really been in that place since.
Out of this place in my heart, I allowed the Lord to speak. The words and promises given to you often require action and obedience. If you don’t do something with it, you could miss it.
Value Him enough to value what He speaks.
Be not like the Israelites, who forgot what the Lord had done and spoken. I tend to compromise when I forget how good God is. I think maybe the promises of God have to be more about Him than the promise itself.
Grab Ahold of the Promise
I want to encourage you with a couple scriptures:
Joshua 1:7-9, “Only be thou strong and very courageous that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn off not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and courageous and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
I want to encourage you to be strong and of good courage, like Joshua. Where the Israelites dropped the ball, in a sense, and compromised, Joshua stood up and grabbed ahold of the promise. He was able to enter the Promised Land. I believe we are to be a people who have faith to believe the Lord, and grab ahold of His promises with courage and strength.
One last scripture: Habakkuk 2:2 says, “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”
I bless you my friends! Grab ahold of Him, and grab ahold of His promises! He is faithful, so be bold and courageous!!
