Symphony rocks hard at life whether she’s journaling in a coffee shop, instagramming pictures of Subway stops or leading worship at her church. Since graduating with a degree in International Relations in 2013 she’s been splitting life between the bustle of New York City and the ‘burbs of New Jersey.

Symph6BObedience allows you to operate despite seemingly impossible circumstances, because Jesus is more powerful than everything we can see or touch. – Brother Yun, Living Water.

Of late, I have been praying the prayer of how am I walking in obedience with the Father, am I welcoming Jesus as Lord and Master in my life and ministries, and praying that I am not praying for blessings over my own plans and direction.

It is often hard to remember that God’s plans for us are because He is great and glorious, that His works and His people praise Him (Psalms 145:10). In the midst of uncertainty and storms, it can be easy to cling onto the present circumstances and not the hope we have in Jesus (Hebrews 10:23).

How are you walking in obedience today?

When you say yes to Jesus, it isn’t just one yes. It is a continuous yes I will follow, yes I will go, yes I will persevere and fix my eyes on You alone. To keep saying yes to Jesus – that is obedience. Not merely the initial altar call or the mountaintop emotional yes, but it is the yes you say when no one is looking, when it would seem easier to walk away and go somewhere else, to run or to hide, and find refuge in the comforts of the world.

If you have not said yes in a very long time — maybe it is time to awake to the ways God wants to work in you, for the opportunities to say:

“YES Lord, I am Yours – I am willing to go, far – deep – wide – near for the sake of Your Kingdom.”

My friends at Live Dead Silk Road have said yes to bring Jesus and His hope and light into the unreached of the Silk Road. That first yes may take them onto an airplane and onto foreign soil, but it is the subsequent yes’ that allow them to press on and follow through in the loving the unlovable, lifting up the weary and tired, the oppressed, widow, and orphan.

For me, saying yes to God in my current season has been to remain where I am, to pursue life in a place that I don’t always see as “fun” or “glamorous”. Saying yes has pushed me to obey God despite my desires to run and flee. In this process I come to understand that God will lead us into uncharted waters in the least likely of places. Obedience is not lame at all – but God brings us on adventures and journeys far beyond what our human mind can imagine.

How about you?

Have you been saying yes, and then yes again, and again, and again? What is something you feel God is asking you to say “yes” to right now? Take a couple minutes and ask the Holy Spirit to fill you and lead you to God’s heart and tell Him how you feel about responding to Him.

Send a message to a trusted friend, telling them about however God is calling you to say yes, and ask them to hold you accountable in how you will answer.

Join us in the journey into obedience.
