Hungry for Truth: Part II

Have you heard the expression “Boots on the Ground?” Well our Live Dead Missionaries are the boots on the Silk Road. Here we’d like to take a moment and allow one of them to share part of their life with you. Some names and details have been changed, but this is a true story from this colorful, vibrant, and sometimes surprising region and those who God has called to work here.

I have been sharing with you all about the woman me and my fellow worker have been doing a Bible study with since about November of last year. It is something that God is not only growing this woman in, but growing us as well as we lean into the process and patiently watch the Holy Spirit put seed after seed into her heart.

As we have been meeting with her, every week is a different revelation about Jesus. Every week my worker friend and I walk away together, usually after dark and arm in arm due to the cold, going over the things our native friend has said and the ways we are seeing God move in her. We pray over her and ask God to continue to work and move.

This past week was no exception as she, out of nowhere, told us that she had been searching about God and researching all she could for the past three years. She said during this process God has changed her! We read John 1 together, after giving her the homework of reading it herself and had a really wonderful conversation about the nature of God and His relationship with us. She kept bringing up other things she had read in the Bible as well.

When she shared with us about a woman who had hurt her deeply recently, we told her, awkwardly, that she needs to forgive that woman, as God has forgiven us. This is definitely a “pre-discipleship” moment that is happening.

We are patiently walking with God and her through it all while seeing the growth, knowing it may not be us that see the harvest, but thankful to be counted worthy to be part of the process with this precious, precious woman.

Most of the time, when we help her close up shop at night, she’ll hug our necks and say “I love you guys.” This feeling is quite mutual.

I want to ask again for you to please pray for her. We are praying she will know and declare that the God she has a relationship with is no other than Jesus Christ, for healing for past wounds from others, and for her to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Will you pray these things with us?
