My friend Luke (not his real name) has a background in teaching history and is eager to make connections between the world’s faiths, particularly his ancestral faith of Islam and Christianity. Over the course of a few months, Luke went from kissing the cover of the Injeel (the Gospels) during a visit to reading the Gospels of Matthew and Luke and the book of Acts on his own.
His comments on Jesus’ teaching about the kingdom of God serve to summarize the state of his heart:
“I want to be a friend of this kingdom.”
Luke is not a believer yet; he is a very bright seeker with lots of questions and an underlying loyalty to family and local society as expressed in Islam.
Join us in praying for Luke and the many like him who have questions but can hardly fathom that their answers may lay outside the safe world of Islam and family tradition.
