As the few of us at the small church meeting said our goodbyes, I embraced a man I had yet to meet, and something felt different. Though I didn’t know him, the embrace felt authentic and special.
The next day I had lunch with a new friend who told me the story of the man I had embraced. He was a new brother, and his family, who is strongly against his new faith, has been persecuting him. He hides his Bible in the countryside where he can read it in private and changes taxis multiple times to get to church without being followed.
Pray for this new brother, that his roots will go down deep into the soil of God’s love and that he will stand firm in Christ in the face of persecution and suffering.
