“I planted, Apollos watered, but God [all the while] was making it grow and [He] gave the increase. So neither he who plants is anything nor he who waters, but [only] God Who makes it grow and become greater” (1 Cor. 3:6-7).
Today I saw a beautiful example of the body working together, of team.
About a year ago, one of our team members left our context, obediently following His call to another country, but while she was here, she cultivated a relationship with a woman named Sonia, who is a wife and mother. Sonia recently fell into some very difficult circumstances. Her husband divorced her. Another marriage was arranged for her with a man who cares very little for her, and she currently has no job.
She came to my house today to receive a gift that our old team member sent for her. As she sat in my living room drinking tea, she told me of her difficult circumstances, distraught and unsure what to do. I reminded her that she had already heard about the Answer, and I asked her if she remembered what our old team member shared with her. She smiled and said, “Yes, Jesus. I know Him. I love Him.” When I asked her why she loves Him, she replied, “Because He heals me and helps me.” I then asked her what she wanted Him to help her with now. She pointed to her throat and said, “I want Him to heal me. I know He can.” I didn’t need anything else. I asked immediately if we could pray. When she agreed, I held out my hands palms up, looked up, and asked aloud for Issa al-Masik to heal her body. After we prayed, she reported feeling much better. She also shared that she was on her way to talk to someone about getting a job, so we also agreed to pray about that together, agreeing that Jesus can open the right doors at the right time.
Join us in prayer today for Sonia. She professes faith and trust in Jesus, and for that we rejoice greatly! Pray that He would continue to reveal Himself to her and provide for her and her three children.
